Tessa Thompson Comes Out As Bisexual, Says She And Rumored GF Janelle Monae 'Love Each Other Deeply'

Yay! Tessa Thompson is finally out! Though not all the rumors are officially confirmed… yet.
The Thor Ragnarok star, who is also rumored to be coming out as Marvel movies’ first LGBT superhero, gave an interview with Net-A-Porter out Friday where she was candid but careful.
When the subject of rumored girlfriend Janelle Monae was broached, Tessa was quick to gush about the innovative star.

On Janelle’s visual album Dirty Computer, in which the two play lovers (And also androids? You just gotta see it.), Tessa says:

“Isn’t it such a good record? I am so proud to have been involved. I get text messages from friends that are like, ‘Would you please let Janelle know I came out to my family because of her?’ I think that work is really helping people and probably saving some lives.”

But what about her own life? For months people have assumed she and Janelle were dating, and that Make Me Feel video felt like a coming-out party.
Well, Tessa is not ready to confirm their couple status, but it’s for a good reason:

“It’s tricky, because Janelle and I are just really private people and we’re both trying to navigate how you reconcile wanting to have that privacy and space, and also wanting to use your platform and influence.”

That’s understandable. One thing Tessa is completely unafraid of discussing? Her own bisexuality:

“I can take things for granted because of my family – it’s so free and you can be anything that you want to be. I’m attracted to men and also to women. If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we don’t even have to have the discussion.”

How great! It definitely sounds like the concerns are more with Janelle? Overcoming sexual anxiety is a clear theme in Dirty Computer, that’s for sure.

Tessa doesn’t go so far as that, but she does explain her trepidation about dating confirmation a bit more:

“That was something I was conscientious of in terms of this declaration around Janelle and myself. I want everyone else to have that freedom and support that I have from my loved ones. But so many people don’t. So, do I have a responsibility to talk about that? Do I have a responsibility to say in a public space that this is my person?”

“My person.” We LOVE that. And what she says next is frankly all the confirmation we need:

“We love each other deeply. We’re so close, we vibrate on the same frequency. If people want to speculate about what we are, that’s okay. It doesn’t bother me.”

Whew! So glad she said that because we are going to speculate THA FUCK out of these two forever! LOLz!
Oh, btw, if you haven’t seen it, definitely take the time to watch Tessa and Janelle in Dirty Computer (below)!
