The Hills Star Jason Wahler's Rock Bottom? Being In Relapse Treatment While Wife Gave Birth In SAME Hospital!

Jason Wahler Was In Relapse Treatment While His Wife Gave Birth In The SAME Hospital

Jason Wahler is opening up about the “really hard” time he had getting sober.

The Hills: New Beginnings star may be in a healthy and happy place now, but it was a struggle to get there. On Wednesday, the 36-year-old sat down with Access Hollywood, where he opened up about his struggle with addiction and how at one point, it even prevented him from being present for the birth of his own child — despite him being in the same physical location.

Wahler explained to the outlet that after initially getting sober in 2010 and having a hold over his addiction for five years, he relapsed, and eventually had to go in for treatment — at the SAME time and place his wife, Ashley Wahler, was giving birth to their first child, Delilah Ray:

“At five years of sobriety, I ended up relapsing on Adderall. I ended up going down, spiraling on and off for two-and-a-half, three years, that landed me at the first floor at Hoag Hospital while my wife was giving birth on the third floor with my daughter.”

Omg, could you imagine?? That poor family! For Jason to have to miss the miracle, and for Ashley to not have her husband by her side in the special moment… That would definitely be hard to overcome, but Jason is trying. He continued:

“To not be able to be present or in the moment to remember one of the greatest memories or moments in your life, is something that, I’ve forgiven myself, but it’s really hard.”

The spouses eventually went on to welcome their second child, son Wyatt in 2021, which thankfully, Jason was present for. He told People at the time:

“It was one of the most incredible experiences to deliver him into the world. I have the utmost respect for my wife Ashley, who did an absolutely incredible job through the birthing process, as well as all the other mothers who have the same strength in creating life. We are so excited to give Delilah a brother to complete our little family, and we can’t wait to raise them both the best we can. I can’t wait to be involved in Wyatt’s life the way my dad was in mine, and I hope to have the same bond I share with him. I can’t wait to be his coach and for him to be my wingman and mini-me.”

So much love. Watch his full Access Hollywood interview (below):

Jason has now been sober for close to four years, and he and his family have moved out of Orange County, California. We hope to see him continue on his health journey.
