If you’ve ever had a great idea for a Simpsons character, now is your chance to prove it!
The Simpsons is holding a contest for fans to create their very own original Simpsons character to be featured in an early 2010 episode. The winner gets to head out to El Lay to work with producers and the animation director on the new character.
The contest is part of The Simpsons 20th anniversary celebration and opens for submissions today on The Simpsons website running until October 24.
The proposed character should be “pithy and funny” according to executive producer Al Jean. A description of the character’s traits is expected including a catch phrase a la Homer Simpson and his “D’oh!”
The winning character already has it’s spot in an episode guest starring Chris Martin from Coldplay.
The contest is all for the fans who helped get The Simpsons where they are today. Says Jean:
“We can’t thank them enough. We’re now in uncharted waters: We’ve gone longer than any scripted show in prime-time history. It’s a cliche, but it wouldn’t be so except for these people who’ve loved the show all these years.”
Maybe we should enter!
Springfield could use a Queen of all Media gossiping about the residents!
