Ugh.
We were so proud of T.I. for his recent charity work with an Atlanta children’s organization, but now he has gone and said something that just has us shaking our heads.
In a recent interview for Vibe‘s December issue, the rapper made some interesting comments on gay rights.
Even though the rapper allegedly “supports anyone’s sexual preferences,” he had no problem finding Tracy Morgan‘s recent controversial homophobic statements funny.
T.I. said:
“Man, I will say this, the funniest joke I ever heard Tracy say during a stand-up was, ‘C├óΓé¼Γäómon man, I think gay people are too sensitive. If you can take a dick, you can take a joke.’ [Cracks up laughing.] That shit was funny to me. And it├óΓé¼Γäós kind of true.”
He then went on to say:
“They├óΓé¼Γäóre like, ‘If you have an opinion against us, we├óΓé¼Γäóre gonna shut you down.’… That├óΓé¼Γäós not American. If you├óΓé¼Γäóre gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you├óΓé¼Γäóre against it you should have the right to be against it in peace.”
Aaaah! So conflicting!
Yes, we agree that everyone has a right to speak their mind and also has a right to live in peace, but his comments are ignorant. And NOTHING about Tracy’s homophobic rant was funny.
You might want to think twice before you open your mouth on gay rights.
