Timothée Chalamet Put On BLAST By Ballerina Misty Copeland -- Calls Him Out For Asking HER To Promote HIS Film Before Opera & Ballet Diss!

Timothée Chalamet Backlash Continues As Ballerina Misty Copeland BLASTS Him Over Opera & Ballet Diss!

Timothée Chalamet continues to come under fire for his controversial comments!

Last month, the Marty Supreme actor, for no apparent reason, took shots at ballet and opera during a conversation with Matthew McConaughey for Variety. Timothée said he doesn’t “want to be working in ballet or opera” because “no one cares” about the art forms anymore — and he pissed off a loooooot of people! We mean, basically everyone, especially those in the communities, slammed him online. Even The View got in on the controversy! Now one of the most legendary ballerinas is speaking out against Timmy!

According to Variety, Misty Copeland clapped back at his remarks during a panel for Aveeno. She started by saying:

“First I have to say that it’s very interesting that he invited me to be a part of promoting ‘Marty Supreme’ with respect to my art form.”

The ballet dancer wore a Marty Supreme jacket in an Instagram post in November 2025, along with a picture of herself as a child and the caption, “Dream Big.” Check it out (below):

It’s giving Timothée only had respect for her art when it directly benefited him…

Misty went on to explain that just because ballet and opera are not considered popular doesn’t mean they aren’t important art forms:

“I think that it’s important that we acknowledge that, yes, this is an art form that’s not ‘popular’ and a part of pop culture as movies are, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have enduring relevance in culture.”

The performer pointed out that it’s “often mistaken when something is popular that it’s meaningful or more impactful” — but that is not true. She added:

“There’s a reason that the opera and ballet have been around for over 400 years. I think when you have access and you have opportunity to be a part of something that can change your life, and that’s the work that I’ve done been doing with the Misty Copeland Foundation. That’s the work I’ve done my whole career, is to bring more people into it so that people do understand the importance and the relevance of it in our communities and our culture, and you see it reflected everywhere.”

If it weren’t for these two mediums, Misty mentioned, Timothée wouldn’t have his career:

“I mean, he wouldn’t be an actor and have the opportunities he has as a movie star if it weren’t for opera and ballet, and their relevance in that medium. All of these mediums have a space and we shouldn’t be comparing them.”

Well said! Just because something isn’t popular right now doesn’t diminish it’s value! Timothée should listen and take notes. Watch Misty’s reaction to the controversy (below):

“All of these mediums have a space and we shouldn’t be comparing them.” – World-renowned ballerina, Misty Copeland ????️ When asked about a recent controversial comment actor Timothée Chalamet made about ballet and opera that sparked a firestorm of backlash from fans and even inspired one institution to use his name as a discount code for tickets, history-making ballerina Misty Copeland — who was featured in promotional material for Chalamet’s film Marty Supreme — had a response as graceful as her artform.

At this time, Timothée hasn’t responded to the backlash. He and Misty will cross paths at the Oscars on Sunday. Awkward! She is to perform onstage while Sinners stars Miles Caton and Raphael Saadiq sing I Lied to You. Meanwhile, Timothée is nominated for best actor for his role in Marty Supreme. The movie is also up for best picture. We’ll see how everything turns out, but his chances of winning, especially after this drama, are starting to look slim. Kylie Jenner‘s boyfriend may want to take the opportunity to apologize to Misty and the opera and ballet communities before the scandal does any more damage to his career!
