It’s always great to see celebrities interact with their fans through social media websites like Twitter and Facebook, and Tom Cruise is breaking new ground as the first celebrity to join Vkontakte.
If you’ve never heard of the website, you’re definitely not alone! VK.com is essentially the Russian equivalent of Facebook and has a nearly identical layout.
We’re not sure that we’ll be seeing many celebrities jumping on this bandwagon, but so far it’s been working out for Tom who already has over 63,000 followers since joining last week!
Looks like Russia loves them some Stacee Jaxx!
The Rock of Ages star and “TeamTC” have mainly been using the site to promote his upcoming film Oblivion, but they have also taken the time to thank fans for the warm welcome with posts saying:
├óΓé¼┼ôHey Guys, We opened up the wall for a bit this morning, (It’s 10:33am PT in L.A.!), cause we wanted to hear from you and interact a bit with you…. you guys are awesome!├óΓé¼┬¥
Well isn’t that nice!!
Tom and his team have even taken the time to reply to some fans individually, and from what we can see he has been brushing up on his Russian!
His number of followers continues to grow with each minute, and it looks like he might have struck gold with Vkontakte! Either way, it’s great to see a star showing some appreciation for his fans overseas!
