We absolutely love that while no major details have been released, that we’ve been getting snippets of pieces as of late — from the teaser trailer to these on-set looks at the batmobile tumbler — and now we’re hearing from Tom Hardy (yum!) himself as to what it’s like to play his character, Bane!
‘Hang on a minute. You’re asking me to come round the world with you in a Batman movie, playing a villain, and the only downside to it is I have to wear a mask? Hmmm, let me think. I’ll get back to you… No, I’m fucking there, man! Anything you need.’”
“All I can say is that Chris has a plan up his sleeve that├óΓé¼Γäós not at all disappointing. And that is a definite choice that├óΓé¼Γäós watertight in every respect. I think Bane├óΓé¼Γäós fucking cool so I├óΓé¼Γäóm really excited to play him. It├óΓé¼Γäós not the guy in Joel Schumacher├óΓé¼Γäós film, but it shouldn├óΓé¼Γäót disappoint fanboys├óΓé¼┬ª├óΓé¼┬¥
So, does he feel any pressure living up to Heath Ledger’s portrayal as one Batman’s arch-nemeses? “No, none at all,” he insisted. “Brilliant actor, brilliant work – that’s it. I’ve got a job to do. It’s the same with Mad Max and Mel Gibson. I’m not here to engage in a competition with their talent. It’s to play the character that I’ve been given.”
Sounds like the right mix of attitude about handling the role after the iconic Joker performance and excitement to just play the part!
Even with having to wear a mask:
“Any time you put something over your face, you’re going to adopt a personality and a physicality that has nothing to do with acting. It allows a performance to be free.”
Well then we say be free, Tom Hardy! Free and without a shirt, please! Ha!
We can’t wait to see this movie!
