Tommie Smith, Olympic sprinter has decided to auction off his 1968 gold medal…we are wondering why??
It turns out he happened to try to sell it in 1999 but had no buyers then. Maybe this will be his lucky time?
When Smith received this medal in Mexico City in 1968, he raised his fist in protest on the victory stand.
This time the medal is on sale at Moments in Time Memorabilia along with his Puma spikes and a signed and notarized letter. The starting bid is $250,000 and will be up until November 4th.
So far there have not been any bids.
