The critics are raving about the much-anticipated new film Precious, starring Mariah Carey and produced by Oprah Winfrey. Some of the buzz surrounding the flick is that breakout star Mo’Nique may garner herself an Oscar nod for her role.
But she won’t get squat if she doesn’t smarten up and lose her tude! According to sources, Mo’Nique has made some ridiculous demands for appearing in promotional events for the flick, including wanting her stylist flown in first class and a $100,000 appearance fee for the actress to show up at the festival premieres! (Ironically, Mariah didn’t receive or ask for a cent!)
Her greedy attitude may lose her the chance to win an Oscar, as Oprah and fellow executive producer Tyler Perry instructed the studio, Lionsgate, to promote her costars Mariah and Gabby Sidibe more to get them into the Oscar race. However, it may be a moot point as Mo’Nique seemingly has no interest in a golden statue, just the bling she could purchase herself with a large paycheck.
A sources says: “Mo’Nique said she signed on to do this film for a small amount of money. She said she didn’t care about ‘no Oscar’ – all that mattered was ‘those Benjamins!’ Because Oprah and Tyler Perry are backing the film, she feels as though there should be a budget to pay for her promotional duties.”
With even more evidence to support the theory, Mo’Nique herself responded to the allegations, saying: “When people say, ‘You care more about money than winning an Oscar,’ well, what does an Oscar mean? An Oscar means more work when you win it, and that means more money! I couldn’t eat that Oscar. Everybody needs money, baby. That’s how we survive, right?”
Charming. We sure they’ll give you one now! Not too smart to piss of both Oprah and Tyler perry. You’re just asking never to work again!
