Train is all about equality, so we imagine they were pretty peeved when they discovered their song Marry Me was being used on a website campaigning against same-sex marriage.
We don’t know the particular website and don’t care to because we wouldn’t want to give their ignorant message any more traffic than it’s already getting.
What we do know is that Australia is trying to pass the Marriage Amendment Act 2012 to establish marriage equality for same-sex couples, which is AWESOME! Unfortunately, haters gonna hate and they’re going to try to use any propaganda they can to influence others.
Since Train didn’t write the 2010 song as an anthem for oppression, the band has released a statement reading:
├óΓé¼┼ôIt was upsetting to us that Marry Me, a love song with no boundaries, was being used to promote an agenda we don’t subscribe to. We (Train) take the idea of marriage very seriously, and believe it is the right of all consenting adults, regardless of sexual orientation. Marry Me is about just that, finding that special love and making it last forever. Everyone should be allowed to have that.├óΓé¼┬¥
VERY nice choice of words, boys. We couldn’t agree more and hopefully a lot of others do too.
