Travis Kelce Details ‘Biggest Factor’ In Returning To NFL After Reaching ‘All-Time Low' After Super Bowl Loss

Travis Kelce wants that ring!

On Wednesday’s episode of the New Heights podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs player opened up about his decision to return for another NFL season after this year’s devastating Super Bowl loss. When Jason asked if the loss played into his decision, Trav revealed:

“It was probably the biggest factor.”

The 35-year-old went on to call the loss an “all-time low” for him. Oof. That was so evident after seeing how defeated he looked leaving the game!

But it’s not the only reason he’s returning for his lucky 13th year (we know Taylor Swift must love that!). Addressing if he would’ve retired had the Chiefs beat the Eagles, in what would have been a historic three-peat win, the tight end noted:

“I mean, it’s a pretty cool way to go out, but I think I would still have this love for the game.”

Despite ramping up his Hollywood career, the game show host gushed:

“The biggest thing is that I f**king love playing the game of football. I love playing. I still think I can play it at a high level, and possibly at a higher level than I did last year.”

The Grotesquerie star candidly acknowledged he doesn’t love the way he played in the last season, sharing:

“I don’t think it was my best outing. I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I’ve been in years past.”

Because of this, he feels awful for his teammates, adding:

“You know, I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth for how I ended the year and how well I was playing and how accountable I was for the people around me.”

That’s the sign of a great team leader! Despite playing well enough to help get the Chiefs to the big game, he still feels bad. We just know he’s about to pour his all into the next season to make up for this!

As for how he came to this decision, the athlete dished:

“It’s just off a feel. I’m not a big measure the pros and cons [guy]. Pure gut feeling… I pulled the trigger as soon as I knew that feeling.”

Late last month, Pat McAfee revealed on The Pat McAfee Show that he received a text from #87, saying:

“Gonna try and get to the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop.”

Here’s to hoping it’s an epic and successful season!
