Awful. Just awful.
A new piece of legislature has been introduced in Tennessee that’s being called the “Turn Away The Gays” bill.
Yep. This is happening in America.
If passed, the bill would give people and businesses the right to refuse goods and services to LGBT citizens without penalty.
So, basically Tennessee is trying to codify hatred into their state laws.
The bill was filed by State Senator Brian Kelsey who represents Memphis and Germantown. Supporters of the bill suggest that this will protect religious freedom.
For example, if a same-sex couple wanted to purchase a wedding cake, a bakery would have the right to turn them away without any legal repercussion just by saying it goes against their faith to make a cake for gays.
How could anyone argue that this isn’t permissible discrimination?!
We are flat out disgusted that something like this could happen in 2014!
Do the right thing, Tennessee! Don’t turn away the gays, turn away this bill!!!
