Ever since Ty Herndon surprised the country world by coming out of the closet, everyone has wondered what this will mean for his music.

Will he play the pronoun game to stay more relatable to more conservative fans?
Or will his songs reflect losing his car, his truck, and his man?
Ty was a guest at the Family Equality Council’s Los Angeles Awards Dinner on Saturday, and he gave everyone a proud answer! He explained:
“I may be the first man in country music to sing a love song to another man. And I’m very proud to do that. I’m not changing the ‘he’s for ‘she’s. It’s straight on who I love. Love is universal. I’m keeping it unisex but there are a few songs that I’ve written that I wrote about my own life. That’s the one thing about country music — you got to sing what you know.”
Seeing as what Ty knows is being in a healthy relationship with a man for five years, we’re guessing this will be the upbeat kind of country.
The type where you only lose your truck! LOLz!

Seeing as Ty will start recording his next album on March 15th, it’s good he knows what he wants to do — and who!
We are so happy with his decision and can’t wait to hear the new tracks!
