Urban Outfitters In Trouble With The Navajo Nation

It’s time for another Urban Outfitters scandal!
The hipster retailer is in hot water for using of the word “Navajo” to describe their Native American-inspired items, which violates the Federal Trade Commission Act and Federal Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990.
According to the act:

“It is illegal to offer or display for sale, or sell any art or craft product in a manner that falsely suggests it is Indian produced, an Indian product, or the product of a particular Indian or Indian Tribe or Indian arts and crafts organization, resident within the United States.”

Also working against Urban is the fact that the Navajo Nation owns 12 trademarks for the use of the word Navajo, which includes clothing.
Urban Outfitters received a cease and desist from the Navajo Nation attorney general, but according to their PR person they “currently have no plans to modify or discontinue any of these products.”
Thoughts???
