What a refreshing first step in the right direction!
Today the U.S. Senate passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, a law which outlaw LGBT discrimination against individuals in the workplace!
This has the makings of a landmark civil rights moment and it could potentially changes the lives of millions for the better, but it’s still far too early to celebrate this as a victory.
ENDA passing in the Senate is a HUGE deal, in order for it to become federal law the bill must also be passed by in the House of Representatives.
Republican House Speaker John Boehner has already said he opposes the law and it’s very possible he may not even allow a vote.
Yes, this is the same John Boehner who recently orchestrated the catastrophic government shutdown.
President Barack Obama cast support for the bill today on Twitter.
He said:

We can’t understand how anyone could vote otherwise!
Congrats to the U.S. Senate for doing what’s right, we hope the House soon follows suit!
