Nick Ashford was a songwriting genius and a huge loss to the entire musical community, so naturally, he was honored at the BET Awards.
His widowed wife and songwriting partner, Valerie Simpson, sang a moving tribute (above) by belting out Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing from behind a piano.
Unlike the Grammy Nominations Concert last December, she played solo, which only made it that more special.
