In complete dedication to her craft that rivals that of Oscar the Grouch, Vanessa Hudgens literally ate out of the garbage for her role in Gimme Shelter!
In the film, Vanessa plays Apple, a girl who runs away from her drug-addicted mom, becomes homeless, and has to deal with a pregnancy on top of that!
Gimme Shelter? More like Give Vanessa Every Award Ever!
In a recent interview, Vanessa dished about eating one less than savory dish out of the trash:
“[E]ating out of the garbage was horrible as well because there was a paparazzi there that day so pictures are out of ‘Vanessa eating out of the trash,’ and I├óΓé¼Γäóm like, ‘No, it├óΓé¼Γäós Apple.'”
When asked about the peanut butter and jelly sandwich she had to wolf down, she was actually pretty enthusiastic (um, who doesn’t love them some PBJs):
“It was great! I made sure it was going to be safe and clean when I got to it, but it was still uncomfortable. It├óΓé¼Γäós a very real moment I think too for the character ├óΓé¼╦£cause that├óΓé¼Γäós something that really does happen when you├óΓé¼Γäóre homeless. It├óΓé¼Γäós such a low point for anyone. It just doesn├óΓé¼Γäót feel good.”
We’re proud of you Vanessa! Way to Daniel Day-Lewis the crap out of this role!
Meanwhile, we wouldn’t put it past ole acting wizard DDL to have played the garbage itself, he’s THAT good.
