Watch Vice President Joe Biden Get Awkward With The New Defense Secretary's Wife! What Is He DOING??

If you thought Joe Biden was done being awkward now that President Obama‘s second term is winding down, think again!
The Vice Prez was swearing in new Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter at a ceremony at the White House on Tuesday when he got a little handsy with Carter’s wife Stephanie.

Luckily, this was a televised ceremony, so we have the play-by-play in GIF form (below)!
First, as Carter begins his speech, Joe motions for Stephanie to come stand with him… for some reason.

Not only does he hold her by the shoulders the whole time — he whispers in her ear!

Then Carter proves why he’s the defense secretary with this move:

He puts hand on her shoulder and gives her a shout-out in his acceptance speech.
See Joe back off?? DAMN!
We’re sure (er, hope) Joe didn’t mean anything by it, but MAN that looked awkward! It even looked like he was sniffing her hair! Poor woman!
On a side note, our new Secretary of Defense’s name is Ashton Carter. Doesn’t he sound like he should be on the cover of Tiger Beat??
