WOO HOO!!!! Go Washington!!!
With democratic Senator Mary Margaret Haugen announcing that she plans on being the 25th vote necessary to pass the same-sex marriage bill out of the state Senate, Washington is about to become the 7th state to legalize gay marriage!
She said she came to her decision after taking time “to reconcile my religious beliefs with my beliefs as an American, as a legislator, and as a wife and mother who cannot deny to others the joys and benefits I enjoy. This is the right vote and it is the vote I will cast when this measure comes to the floor.├óΓé¼┬¥
That’s totally the right mindset to be in if you are a lawmaker. We hate to break it to any legislator still on the fence about this issue, but your personal beliefs don’t mean squat because you’re representing the people, not whatever spiritual being may or may not be watching over you.
Gov. Chris Gregoire also announced her support for same-sex marriage earlier this month by saying, “It is time in Washington state for marriage equality. It is time; it├óΓé¼Γäós the right thing to do.├óΓé¼┬¥
Yes it is! We’re so, so, SO proud of Washington and can’t wait for more states to take the same kind of action!
EQUALITY FOR ALL!!!
