#WendysIsOver Trends Nationwide After It's Discovered Franchise CEO Is A HUGE Trump Supporter!

#WendysIsOver trends after it turns out a franchisee gave money to Donald Trump!

Late last month, restaurant business leaders met with Donald Trump about steps the food service industry needed to take in order to bounce back from the devastating and long-lasting coronavirus pandemic.

Among those who met with Trump personally on the topic, according to Business Insider, was James Bodenstedt, the CEO of a company called Muy Co., which operates hundreds of franchises of Wendy’sTaco Bell, and Pizza Hut all over the country.

At the time, Trump critics rolled their eyes at the business roundtable — just another backroom “cronyism” situation with the President’s rich, old white buddies there to help make him look good, according to organizations like Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. But now, the more we learn about Bodenstedt himself in the midst of nationwide protests against police brutality, the more we unfortunately have to come to terms with his problematic political dealings.

According to that same Business Insider piece, Bodenstedt has personally given more than $440,000 to Trump’s re-election campaign, including $200,000 in March alone! That’s right — IN THE MIDST of his mishandling of the coronavirus crisis!

And now, with social justice and political activism at the forefront of so many people’s minds in the midst of national unrest, that means BAD NEWS for Wendy’s, and Bodenstedt’s other businesses!

#WendysIsOver trended for much of the night on Monday and on into Tuesday morning, with social media users angry about how one of the biggest and most successful franchisees of the food chain would be supporting Trump so feverishly. Many of the reactions were downright hilarious, though, providing some much-needed levity during what’s otherwise been a very emotional, upsetting, anxiety-inducing time for so many people across the United States and around the world.

Here are some of the best, funniest, and wackiest reactions to the burger joint’s apparent online demise (below)… Starting with this person, who made an honest mistake:

LOLz!!

Wait, we thought their fries weren’t that bad?! That part is news to us!!!

Still, this realization that all of that four for $4 money has been going to Trump sure makes us ALL feel some kind of way:

Sadly… amen to THAT!

One angry user pointed out the tug-of-war between liking fast food and making a political statement about something you believe in, writing:

“Kind of sad about breaking up with Wendy’s cause I really liked their curly French Fries and Baked potatoes but donating money to *45 is like punching me in the gut. Good bye Wendy’s, it was fun while it lasted. #WendysIsOver”

Thoughtful, well-measured, well said!!

And another added more:

“I stuck with you for 43 years, during changes in fries & pickles & patties & all the rest, but giving money to help reelect the orange piece of s**t in the White House? Stick your burgers up his a**.”

Wow!!

Now, it’s worth repeating again because some #WendysIsOver users are unclear on this part, but Bodenstedt is the CEO of a company that owns franchises of the fast food giant (and others, including Pizza Hut and Taco Bell stores). He is NOT the CEO of Wendy’s itself; the fast food chain was founded decades ago by Dave Thomas (remember those old commercials?) and its current chief exec is a man named Todd Penegor.

A small distinction there, but an important one.

Anyways, what do y’all think about #WendysIsOver, y’all?! Will boycotting businesses like this change the political atmosphere??
