It turns out West Wilson is not only dealing with the intense fallout of Scamanda but also a tragedy within his family. According to TMZ on Wednesday, his cousin allegedly murdered their grandmother. Wow. That’s… a lot to take in.
Dakota Sweeney of Carrollton, Missouri, was arrested on April 22 — the night before West filmed the Summer House reunion. Carroll County law enforcement officials reportedly responded to reports of a shooting at a residence. Once there, police found 75-year-old Gayle R. Wilson dead.

Per a probable cause statement, cops claim a witness told them that Sweeney was quietly sitting in the same room with Gayle for 30 minutes before he allegedly shot her with a handgun. It’s unknown exactly why he allegedly pulled the trigger at this time, but the witness said the pair got into an argument earlier that evening over Sweeney not helping with chores around the house. Sweeney was arrested without incident at the scene, and a statement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says he has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. West’s dad, Bruce, and Sweeney’s mom, Kelly, are Gayle’s stepchildren. The reality star has not addressed the alleged murder yet, but this perhaps explains why he was so silent in those leaked audio from the Summer House reunion as Amanda Batula defended their controversial relationship. We’ll see if he addresses Gayle’s death at the reunion, or if he makes a statement before then.
But regardless of what happened with Scamanda, our heart does break for West. This is so awful. We’re sending him and his family love and light during this difficult time.
