Whoopi Goldberg is sticking up for Bennifer!
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck shocked the world over the weekend when they stepped out with their kids on Saturday — and ended up making out! A Page Six insider revealed they reunited for lunch at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel with Ben and Jennifer Garner‘s kids Fin and Samuel and J.Lo and Marc Anthony‘s twins Emme and Max. They all seemed in good spirits heading inside — where things ended up getting very cozy, a source spilled:
“Ben and Jlo are currently at the Polo Lounge at Beverly Hills Hotel holding hands and kissing. The kids are with them, but at a separate table.”
Despite the affectionate outing, they are reportedly still moving forward with the divorce, which has some people scratching their heads. Like, WTF is going on?! It was truly SO unexpected!

Naturally, this was a HOT topic on Monday’s episode of The View! All the TV personalities went around the table debating the pros and cons of the kiss, but it was Whoopi Goldberg who was most in support of Jen and Ben! She reminded everyone how “hard” it can be to navigate these issues in the public eye, noting:
“It is very hard when you have folks who want to go outside, you know. It is very difficult because people like us sit around and we judge it. […] The kids hear all of this. People see all of this. And it is very difficult to figure out what’s going on in somebody else’s relationship.”
Fair! But also… they did choose the Beverly Hills Hotel. There are lots of places in LA you can go without being essentially on stage. Just sayin’!
As for what she thinks was going on over the weekend? She guessed:
“So, I’m assuming they went out because the kids wanted to go out and everybody was doing their thing. And if you’re happy with your family then you are affectionate with them. It doesn’t mean you’re going home again. It just means, you know, ‘I’m not so mad at you that I can’t sit across from you.’”
That’s a LOT of progress for them, to be fair. But this was a little bit more than just a friendly meal. They weren’t sitting across from one another, they were KISSING! Arguing that this could “confuse” the children, Alyssa Farah Griffin cautioned the couple to be very clear about where they stand with their kids, saying:
“It can be hard and disorienting for kids when they feel like they’re in the gray space in relationships.”
That’s true! The kids have already been stuck in the middle for months. Hopefully, their parents are being as open and honest as possible with them so they understand what’s going on. After all, there were reports the little ones were trying to parent-trap the couple back together. We’d hate for them to get their hopes up if this really was just a blip!
Meanwhile, Sunny Hostin speculated that the exes, who are in the middle of a divorce battle after months of estrangement, might yet again be trying to make things work, adding:
“Maybe they’re giving it a second try, and then maybe those divorce papers will disappear.”
You never know!
Besides, Ana Navarro teased that they are clearly still “hot as hell” for each other despite all they’ve been through all summer. She joked:
“Who can blame Ben? … J.Lo is looking good, she’s been posting pictures of herself.”
Can’t argue with that. Just look!
Has this been J.Lo’s plan all along? LOLz!
Ana went on to share why the joint reunion made her so pleased, continuing:
“I do like this a lot, though, because they were married for a couple of years, they dated before that, they’ve become blended families and they both have teenage kids who’ve become close with each other and are friendly with each other. I think it’s good to keep that going. They can get a divorce but it doesn’t mean their families need to be estranged.”
Agreed. There was a moment there we thought they might never reunite, so this is a good step! But again, it’s the kissing that really stands out here. It’s one thing to be cordial and another to be totally all over each other!!
