One giant step for man, one gigantic leap forward for womankind!
We’ve always found it a little strange that America is roughly evenly split between men and women, yet not a single female graces the country’s currency.
Well, that’s all about to change, because on Wednesday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced that a woman will officially be the portrait on the $10 bill when the certificate changes in 2020.
That’s still a whole President’s term away, but still, progress is progress!

Jack and the rest of the department aren’t sure which famous female will be featured on the money, but by using the hashtag #TheNew10 on social media, you can voice your opinion.
Interestingly enough, a woman actually has been featured on American currency before — Martha Washington on the $1 Silver Paper — but she was taken off way back in 1896…
