Abby Woodgate, a 30-year-old woman from Colchester, England, found a surprise in her banana bunch.
What she first thought might have been mold turned out to be something much more sinister…
A spider egg sac!!
Now this wasn’t just some ordinary, terrifying discovery either. The eggs were unborn Brazilian wandering spiders. The Brazilian wandering spider, also known as the banana spider, is one of the most venomous spiders on earth.
Oh and did we mention they’re super aggressive? Yeah, that must’ve been terrifying when the sac burst open and eggs poured onto her floor!!
She vacuumed them up and threw out the food. But after calling the store about the spidered bananas, they told her pest control would be calling her.
When she talked to pest control, they told her to burn everything that touched the eggs! She said:
“The pest controllers asked where the eggs were and I told them the bin and they said: ‘Right, we’ll take that.’ Then they asked had anything else come into contact with the eggs, and I told them about my vacuum cleaner, so they said: ‘We’ll have to take that too.’ All they could tell me is they thought they were tropical spider eggs.”
So they destroyed her garbage can and her vacuum?? That’s crazy!!
Luckily, the store that sold her the bananas is going to buy her a new bin and vacuum.
So no one gets killed by spiders and this woman gets some new, free stuff! Sounds like a happy ending to us!
