The LGBT lifestyle vlogger had been in Anaheim that weekend for Vidcon, and decided to wrap up the festivities with a trip to the popular WeHo hotspot.
But on Monday, the internet personality took to Instagram to share this scary selfie from his hospital bed, detailing how he was jumped in the caption, writing:
“Last night was the worst night of my life and I’m really struggling to find the words to talk about it. After one of the most wonderful weekends at VidCon we went out to a gay club to celebrate, and towards the end of the evening I was separated from my friends and beaten up by three guys.”
The Brit’s friend and fellow YouTuber, Riyadh Khalaf, also took to Twitter to explain what went down and just how badly Calum was beaten, writing:
Haven’t spoken about it at all but last night @CalumMcSwiggan was attacked by three guys outside a gay bar in LA. It was disgusting and..

Wow. Three cracked teeth and stitches?! That’s so scary!
However, West Hollywood police are skeptical about the online celeb’s wounds! Captain Holly Perez from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station insists that the deputies who inspected Mr. McSwiggan after the alleged altercation didn’t see any injuries or evidence of the attack.
Calum told officers that he had been separated from his friends, and left The Abbey with three people he didn’t know, and couldn’t identify. He said that’s when he was assaulted.

While the cops were questioning security guards from the Pavilions supermarket across the street, they claim they saw the YouTuber pulling a mirror off one car and using it to scratch the paint on a different car.
So, the police took him to the Sheriff’s Station and charged him with damaging the vehicle.
They also allege that Calum was seen trying to hurt himself while in the holding cell, and that’s when he was taken to the hospital.
But in the caption of his emotional IG post, the UK native criticized the cops, saying:
“The authorities should have been there to help and protect me but instead they treated me like a second class citizen. With three broken teeth and six stitches in my forehead, I’ve never felt so terrified to be a gay man in the public eye.”
However, he did applaud his friends for their support, adding:
“All I can do is thank my wonderful friends @riyadhk, @melaniiemurphy and @douga_for being with me the whole way. I’d be lost without them. Right now I don’t feel that I’m in the right place to talk about this but I will be addressing this fully in the future.”
We’re so shocked by this scary situation and are wishing Calum a speedy recovery. We’ll keep you updated with any new deets…
