It sounds like this collaboration was meant to be!
In a conversation with Elvis Duran and The Morning Show on Tuesday, Zayn Malik disclosed the details behind his Fifty Shades Darker collaboration with Taylor Swift. The interview comes on the heels of the musical duo releasing I Don’t Wanna Live Forever this past Friday.
According to the former One Direction member, Swift was attracted to the song after Jack Antonoff (Lena Dunham‘s boyfriend) played it for her. Apparently things just took off from there!

The singer explained:
“We were kind of in separate places when I mentioned the idea to her. I spoke to her on the phone and she heard the song because Jack [Antonoff] had played it to her. So she really liked it and she went in the studio the next day.”
The next day?? Damn! Tay doesn’t mess around when it comes to getting sh*t done!
Zayn added:
“The interesting thing was she’s actually friends with Gi, so she already reached out because Jack had just played her the song anyway, just because we’d done it together and she really liked it.”
Speaking of Gigi Hadid, we bet she was thrilled to have her favorite people working together. It makes group hangouts that much easier too coordinate!
