Zendaya Fires Back After Euphoria Creator Sam Levinson Tries To Blame Her For Season 3 Delays!

Zendaya is clearing up THAT report she was the one who delayed production on Euphoria season 3.

It’s nearly been three years now since season 2 of the HBO drama began airing, and it’s kind of been a mess since… From Angus Cloud’s sudden and tragic death in 2023, to Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike’s messy breakup, to backlash against creator Sam Levinson, and even actors claiming to not be able to pay their rent because of production delays… A LOT has held up the highly-anticipated third season.

Back in July, a source close to Sam told The Hollywood Reporter that it was Zendaya who the filmmaker felt was “dragging her feet” on production of season 3 because of her booming career outside of the show. The source dished:

“It was all about her. Everybody wanted to make it about Sam, but it was her.”

But she disagrees!

On Wednesday, the 28-year-old was featured in Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue, and she clarified any reports that SHE was the one holding up production:

“I will say, I have been off for a couple years, so not delayed because of my [schedule]. … I’ve been open, just waiting.”

The fashion icon pointed to the fact that she had two major movie releases this year with Dune: Part Two and Challengers, but that she filmed both of them in 2022 — so she was open ALL of 2023 and 2024! In fact, it’s been so long since she’s shot anything that she even feels a bit “rusty” to return to set for an unrelated upcoming project:

“I’m rusty. I haven’t been on a set in, like, two years almost. I’m a little bit terrified. I’m like, Can I even do this anymore? I don’t know.”

HA! Nice try, Sam. But Zendaya won’t let you pin the blame on her!

As for where the show’s next installment does stand, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star revealed:

“[Euphoria] is slated for January, I believe. I haven’t read anything yet, but I’m excited to see what everyone has been working on, and what the future looks like for Euphoria. I don’t really have much of an answer except for right now it’s set to start shooting in January. My most important thing is to do justice by the people who love and care about Rue, and make sure that she’s looked after as a character. I think that’s my number one duty.”

In the same July report, THR reported another reason for production delays was Zendaya rejecting multiple storylines for her character… So when she says she hasn’t “read anything yet,” that could also be her shooting down THAT claim too, or, maybe the stuff she hasn’t read are new scripts for ideas she DID approve.
