Project Runway and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition advertisers will be peeved!

According to reports, last week the the FCC announced it's considering new rules that will make it more clear to viewers when a paid product placement is happening in a TV show.

Yeah, cuz most of us can't suss out a product placement a mile away!

Spending on paid product placement has grown in recent years because advertisers need a way to reach all of us who fast forward through commercials when watching shows on TiVo/DVRs.

PQ Media, an alternative media research firm, estimates that paid product placement spending grew 33.7 percent to $2.9 billion in 2007.

In an order released Thursday, the FCC said it's considering whether sponsorship identification notices should be in larger type, appear for a lengthier period of time on the screen and whether they should appear at both the beginning and the end of programs.

The commission will also consider whether to extend disclosure requirements to cable make a determination as to whether its existing policies regarding children's programming already ban the practice.

Yeah, gotta help the moms!

Would make telling junior no to sugary cereal that much harder if he sees Dora eating it in a cartoon!

But, it looks like big business has the gov in their pockets.

We wouldn't bet on anything serious happening.

The report goes on to say that the FCC scheduled a vote on rules for embedded advertising at a commission meeting more than six months ago, but the item was pulled from the agenda following pressure by the advertising industry.

The item was pulled from the agenda the day of the meeting, despite having the support of the Republican chairman, Adelstein and the commission's other Democrat, Michael Copps.

The commission's other two Republicans, Robert McDowell and Deborah Taylor Tate, did not vote on the item at the time. A spokeswoman for McDowell declined to comment. Tate's office did not respond to a request for comment.

The probe announced last week, may lead to new rules, but is not as tough as a previous proposal.

In America, big business wins!

Runway Going Real World

heidi.jpg

Changes are coming!

Production company Bunim-Murray, producers of The Real World and The Simple Life, is close to signing on as the new helmers of Project Runway.

As we've previously mentioned, the original Runway production company, Magical Elves, will end its relationship with the show when it moves to Lifetime.

Magical Elves was offered a sweet deal to stay on the NBC/Bravo side.

Gotta go where the money is!

We hope the Real World folks don't eff up Runway.

We shudder at the thought of anything new being introduced by them.

Don't fuck with something if it's not broken. Keep it as it is!!

Rosie O'Donnell Cheats On Wife!!!!

mencin.jpg

Ancient gossip columnist Cindy Adams, 90 years old, is reporting that Rosie O'Donnell and her long-term partner, Kelli, are calling it quits.

Says Adams:

WE'RE hearing that the togetherness of Rosie O'Donnell and Kelli Carpenter, the handsome blond gal Rosie calls her wife, may not be so together anymore. They married a few years ago in San Francisco. I remember excited Kelli then showing me her new driver's license bearing the name Kelli O'Donnell. Whatever other difficulties such a breakup might cause, there is also a houseful of adopted kids they're raising.

Well, too bad that's not true!

Rosie herself denied those claims exclusively to PerezHilton.com.

And, she joked to us, "cindy adams and i r having a full blown affair. she is a lesbian."

There you have it!

Bitch Meet Whore

jesspam.jpg

As you may recall….

Earlier this month, former hit-singer Jessica Simpson tried to trash boyfriend Tony Romo's true love, vegetarian Carrie Underwood, by wearing a tshirt that reads "Real Girls Eat Meat."

We're sure Papa Joe didn't approved that tee!

He at least has half the brain to realize it's going to anger a lot of people, especially vegetarians.

Now, the latest celeb to lash out against Simpson is none other than Pamela Anderson.

Pam was doing a recent radio interview in Australia when she had the opportunity to bash Jess, and she took it.

She says of Jessica, "I think she is a bitch and whore. Actually, I don't know if she was talking about food or men."

Pam adds that she's proud of not eating any meat, adding, “I think it's healthy, good for your body and good for the environment."

Poor Jess. No one likes you anymore! Not even Pam.

You know you're Z-List when D-Listers are talking smack about you!
