Katy Perry Gets High Schoolers Suspended

KATY PERRY IS TURNING EVERYONE INTO LESBIANS!!!

Or at least getting kids suspended from school!

In Texas, two twirl team members were suspended from a couple of football games for dancing to I Kissed A Girl, the controversial girl-on-girl romp ballad that just won't go away.

The team performed the dance as part of a pep rally at the school. Teachers found the number inappropriate, but some parents and classmates think that the punishment is unnecessarily harsh. In a sign of solidarity worthy of a cheesy high school flick, the drumline has refused to perform without the twirlers.

Fight the power!

It's a bird, it's plane, it's…Stephen Colbert!

colbert.jpg

Stephen Colbert is already a Comedy Central and college cable hero, but now he's going to be a comic book hero as well.

The Conservative parodist will appear in issue No. 573 of The Amazing Spider-Man. In a preview of the comic book, Colbert is seen swinging from rooftop to rooftop alongside the super hero.

This isn't the first of Colbert's cameos in the Marvel world, which has traditionally lent itself to gimmicky television tie-ins. The company's editor-in-chief, Joe Quesada, hints at a Colbert-for-President campaign, making The Colbert Report's fake presidential dream a reality.

Gimmicky indeed!

Colbert follows in the footsteps of other television hosts who have cropped up in Marvel panels. From a 1978 issue featuring the cast of SNL to a David Letterman countdown, the crossovers are indulgently cheesy.

The Colbert issue, however, attempts to reconnect with classic issue No. 50, which also blurred the lines between the comic book and the television world. In No. 50, Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon of The Tonight Show are integrated seamlessly into the storyline. The issue also features the unforgettable image of a defeated Spider-Man discarding his super hero suit, which will recur in Colbert's issue.

While we really love Colbert, why do they have to mess with a classic?

Battle of the Ants

Filed under: Anglophilia > Legal Matters

Someone's feeing a little insecure and threatened!

Anthony 'Ant' Kalloniatis, host of Celebrity Fit Club, has filed a lawsuit in Boston courts to stop British television presenter Anthony 'Ant' McPartlin from using the name 'Ant' professionally in the US.

The American 'Ant' is also seeking $32 million in 'damages'.

Desperate!

For those of you who may not know, the British Ant is actually part of the wildly-popular (in the UK) hosting team of Ant & Dec. They're like the Ryan Seacrests of England. You won't ever see them on Brit TV without the other nearby. Ant & Dec are always 'sold' as a pair.

Anywho, U.S. Ant says he is already losing work after being confused with the English pair and claims their efforts to make it big in good ole' America could kill his own career.

How could someone confuse the two??? The British Ant is hot, the American one - not so much. The British Ant is straight, the American one - not so much. Plus, you don't get the British Ant without the Dec. It's Ant & Dec. Not just Ant!

Just recently, Ant & Dec hosted the ABC quiz show Wanna Bet? in America.

A source familiar with the suit said, "…Ant and Dec did not state they were comedians when they applied to use their names across the Atlantic. Under American rules no two performers can have the same name. If Ant and Dec applied for a trade mark under the name Ant, and said they were involved in comedy, they wouldn’t have been allowed to appear on TV. U.S. Ant is concerned that viewers, producers and show-bookers are confusing them, and he is losing work as a result.”

UPDATE:  The US Ant has given us an official statement.  He says:

"The U.K. SUN is full of malarky.  3/4 of the story they printed is fabricated.  U.S. Trademark law requires me to defend and protect my trademark or it gets diluted.  Thanks to the people who wrote in support of the american hometown boy."

And there you have it.

Do y'all think the lawsuit is lame?!

Is Something Else Going On????

She may have a case of P.T.S. - poor ticket sales!

We mentioned earlier today that Janet Jackson had to cancel her Montreal concert Monday night after she "got suddenly ill."

Well, this was her second show she cancelled in less than a handful of days - and she came up with a different "excuse" for the first cancellation!

According to the tour publicist, Kitara Garner, Jane's Saturday night concert in Detroit this past weekend was cancelled due to "production constraints."

No further details were given.

The show has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 28th.

Those with tickets to Saturday's postponed concert can use them on the 28th. As for those who can't make it, they can seek a refund at the point of purchase.

Looks like Janet's Rock Witchu tour is getting off to a bumpy start.

Either way, we still hope Janet's feeling better after her hospital visit.

Adoption Again?!

bradangeandkids__opt21.jpg

Maybe seven is a lucky number for Brangelina!

The parents of six are supposedly thinking of adopting one more child!

With newborn twins and 4 under the age of 7 running around, you'd think adding on to the crew would be the last thing they're thinking of!

The two are reportedly not sure at the moment which country they'll want to adopt from.

Sources say some lucky kid from Namibia, where Shiloh was born, might be added to the Brangelina collection.

Or, it could be a little one from Bolivia or Paraguay. Angelina supposedly wants to draw attention to the large number of desperately needy orphaned children in Latin America.

We think they should do Latin America. They don't have a kid from there yet!

We feel sorry for Brangelina. In a few years they're going to have 6 (maybe 7) kids all going through puberty at the same time.

Remember how horrible we all were in our teens?

Scary!
