Howard Stern has said that he would replace Simon Cowell on American Idol, but only if they cough up 100 million big ones. Says Stern:
"They'd have to pay me a ton of dough because I already make a ton of dough. Yeah I would do that show for $100 million."
Stern, referring to the Idol as a "fucking karaoke contest" said that being a judge would be the best job on the planet and he is even rumored to be leaving Sirius XM Radio soon.
BUT $100 million is a lot of money…
And like we said — PEREZ will do it for free! Call us!
"I was in my hotel room & I started watched MARLEY & ME again. The first time I watched it, I cried on the plane. Then this time, I was like, 'I am going to make it through', But I didnt! I cried like a little baby."
- American Idol winner Kris Allen tells OK! magazine
Sources are claiming that the latest act to throw their hat into the American Idol judge race is Howard Stern. Idol bosses think he is ideal, since he can be even "nastier" then the departing Simon Cowell!
We love Howard, but what the hell does he know about music?!?!
And HELLO?! We can be nasty! Hell, we're all about the nasty!
This is getting unacceptable! We want this job! There is only one name that should be coming to mind in the Idol execs brain for this gig:
Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta recently defendedTaylor Swift's Grammy performance as it has been on the receiving end of some criticism.
Borchetta blamed a technical difficulty, but he also had this to say:
"This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It's not about that technically perfect performance."
Well Kelly Clarkson, the first-ever winner of American Idol, wasn't going to take that comment lying down and she wrote Borchetta an open letter on her blog in response to his snarky comment:
Wow …..Dear Scott Borchetta,
I understand defending your artist obviously because I have done the same in the past for artists I like, including Taylor, so you might see why its upsetting to read you attacking American Idol for producing simply vocalists that hit ‘the high notes’. Thank you for that ‘Captain Obvious’ sense of humor because you know what, we not only hit the high notes, you forgot to mention we generally hit the ‘right’ notes as well.
Every artist has a bad performance or two and that is understandable, but throwing blame will not make the situation at hand any better. I have been criticized left and right for having shaky performances before (and they were shaky) and what my manager or label executives say to me and the public is “I’ll kick butt next time” or “every performance isn’t going to be perfect” ……I bring this up because you should take a lesson from these people and instead of lashing out at other artists (that in your ‘humble’ opinion lack true artistry), you should simply take a breath and realize that sometimes things won’t go according to plan or work out and that’s okay.
Sincerely,
One of those contestants from American Idol who only made it because of her high notes
Ellen DeGeneres might just be too sweet to be an American Idol judge!
The funny lady says that her opinion of Simon Cowell has changed — for the worse:
"I had one idea of Simon when I came in, and it's changed. He's actually meaner than I thought…It's hard to listen to him tell people things and me not to go, 'You poor thing!'"
Ellen also said she's having a hard time being critical of contestants, but she's getting better at it. She says:
"I'm getting good at delivering bad news, myself, but I'm trying to do it in a tender way. … I hate hurting people's feelings, so that, I think, is the hardest part.
"I think we have good people … I'm going to fight very, very hard to keep the people that I believe in, so that we have a wide variety … somebody for everybody, I hope."
Ellen debuts on Idol on February 9.
We can't wait to see her butt heads with Simon. We have a feeling she can hold her own!
The newest American Idol judge took a break from hating Simon Cowell with all of her heart wants women to stop thinking they have to be skinny to be beautiful, and spoke out to promote a healthy lifestyle:
"It's a double standard because there are men with really beautiful women that don't have great bodies, and yet nobody's saying anything about that. Women [think they] need to keep themselves up to look good for a man or for society. It's not fair. Women are looking at bodies like that and going, 'My stomach doesn't look like that. I'm supposed to look like that?!' So they starve themselves and they work out like crazy. It's not important. We put the wrong emphasis on what beauty is and what health is. Health is being vibrant and having energy and being happy. If you're healthy, it's got nothing to do with how much you weigh."
Ellen's wife, Portia de Rossi, suffered from a severe eating disorder while she was on the TV series Ally McBeal, so we can understand why the comedienne would feel passionately about the issue!
Regardless, well spoken, Ellen! You're one of the only celebs who can speak out about serious issues without coming off like a self-important twit!
Florida resident Cynthia Ware has been charged with attempted murder after she went psycho on her boyfriend for changing the channel from American Idol to something else!
She stabbed him with a 10-inch butcher knife and poured hot chocolate on the poor guy! Luckily he's going to be okay.
On last night's American Idol, the always funny and always seksi Neil Patrick Harris took his spot at the table as the guest judge for Texas auditions, and, like a true pro, didn't back down from Simon Cowell when the two disagreed - which, if you were tuned in, proved to be quite frequently.
When one Idol hopeful performed a jazz-influenced tune, Harris told her it was "quite great." Simon quipped back "Under normal circumstances you wouldn't be interested. If it was Jazz TV, yes."
Cowell was put in his place when Kara and Randy sided with our future boyfriend.
Guess Simon has to unload the insults while he still can, so we'll forgive him for the attack. But only this once.
