Oscar winner Russell Crowe is making it his mission to help his fellow countrymen fight their addiction to gambling.
Yes, it’s apparently a serious problem down under.
According to statistics, “pokies” – as they’re called in Oz – are common in bars and social venues all over Australia. In fact, there are so many poker slot machines there, they account for 21% of the world’s total!
Each year, these pokies rake in $8.8 billion!!!! Many of that money comes from poor people and gambling addicts.
