As we mentioned earlier, Barack Obama chose a prominent homophobic evangelical minister to deliver the invocation next month at his inauguration.

That decision, obviously, is drawing a lot of criticism from the gay community as the chosen Reverend Rick Warren was a prominent supporter of Yes on Prop H8te to ban gay marriages in California.

But, aside from having a known gay hater, we now have some more news about Obama’s inauguration festivities.

The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, will be singing at the event on January 20th.

The San Francisco Boys Chorus and the San Francisco Girls Chorus will also be performing, along with Cellist Yo-Yo Ma, pianist Gabriela Montero, violinist Itzhak Perlman, and a few other musicians.

The chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, said the day would be “an event of historic proportion. It is appropriate that the program will include some of the world’s most gifted artists from a wide range of backgrounds and genres.”

We wonder if Obama will have any gay musicians or artists perform during his big day?

At least a few gay artists, or even ONE prominent one would be some movement forward.

Also on hand will be over 11,000 US troops, with 4,000 local police, and 4,000 police from around the country, along with several security agents from different government agencies.

The main goal will be to keep the peace and protect the soon to be President when he swears in.
