Donald Trump has been declared in arrears for a missed 2008 rent check due in June for the site of his planned catering hall-restaurant at Jones Beach in New York. The state parks agency sent a letter to the Trump telling him to pony up $207,307 within the next 20 days for his 40 year lease on the property with biz partner Steve Carl.
Sounds more like Trump is being a pain the rear!
Trump, however, says he owes them zilch because he’s currently in the middle of a lawsuit against the state for damages due to construction delays. Trump said, “We started construction, they stopped us illegally. The parks commissioner [Carol Ash] is totally incompetent. She now stupidly sent out a notice for rent, and she’s the one who told us we can’t proceed.”
While Trump plans to contest the request in court, a spokesbitch for the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said that the lease includes rent even before construction.
So it doesn’t look good for the Don. Simone Freeman, co-chair of the Nassau County Bar Association’s Municipal Law Committee, said, “Given the way the lease agreement is written, it doesn’t appear to provide for Trump not to pay the rent.”
It’s all beginning to go downhill, and fast!
