If this were an issue of caucasian people not being allowed…well, it just wouldn't be an issue, since there are TONS of things that are exclusionary to caucasians and no one makes apologies for it…

I've lived in the Philly burbs my entire life, and it really baffles me that a pool minutes away from Northeast Philly would discriminate– as with many urban areas, there is a large African American population in the city, particularly in the Northeast. It just doesn't make sense; there are African Americans in every part of Philadelphia, from the poor neighborhoods to the richest. I grew up in the burbs, which has a smaller percentage of African Americans than the City, and I went to private pools, as well as public pools, parks, libraries, and playgrounds, with people of all colors. If no one is bigoted in the burbs, how the hell can people in Northeast Philly be?
This wouldn't have happened, though, if the City of Philadelphia hadn't shut down most of the City's public pools. This is why this camp was forced to pay a private swim club so that the children could swim.

The kids from the camp are from Philadelphia, but the actual swimclub, and it's racist administration, is in Huntington Valley, PA, which is in Montgomery County (not even Philadelphia county), Pennsylvania. So your "Dear Philadelphia" tagline is misleading and should probably be changed. There is racism everywhere, but as a Philadelphian, I do not want this disgusting situation attributed to my city.

It's just a difference in lifestyle, no matter whether the kids are black or white. And I don't believe anybody would let some of what these kids are claiming was said, be said within earshot of them. I think they interpreted what was most likely a snobbish attitude to them, and blew it up to what they believe was racist comments. Find another pool, it's a big city, i'm sure there are plenty.

First of all-it is a private club,though despite having "open memberships"-it still has the right to be exclusive-it's printed on the back of every movie ticket stub you've ever bought ,too. What the media outlet didn't report was that it was probably a case of these little fuckers going bat-shit crazy when they got in the pool. Have you ever seen any group of children(regardless of color) act like they have any goddamn sense when they assemble? I'm sure they were loud (probably profane),extremely rude & chaotic. What proposition do you want to name to prevent stupid black kids from getting kicked out of a public place.I'm pretty sure that if any of the people posting these liberalisms owned a pizza parlor or arcade , they would reserve their right to refuse service to anyone who they deemed offensive as I'm sure these kids were.

The manager of the club is BLACK, this is clearly not a racial issue this is a bunch of rowdy kids causing trouble and then once they are kicked out blame it on their race. Perez, Yes this story is disgusting, but I dont know why you have to say DEAR PHILADELPHIA THIS SUCKS…. Im from philly and it is not a racist city at all. In fact, Northeast Philly is basically a suburb outside of the city. It sucks that you are making Philly look bad, when it is more accepting of other races than many cities, including LA!!
