Of course, I think he meant to say "paparazzi" not "photographers" because we all know of photographers who shoot places, landscapes and people (who wish to be photographed) who have a higher aesthetic purpose.
I don't think Sean is biting the hand that feeds him here, because, perhaps with the exception of his political junkets to foreign lands and that laughable trip to NOLA (all chronicled by photographers), he hasn't really needed them.
Britney, sad to say, has been cultivating and courting X17 and other paps who, yes, have created a monster. And no, the photographers haven't "made him who he is today." What's made him who he is today is his work - his genuine talent. Some celebrities use the paps to make them famous because they don't have anything else to recommend them, but Sean Penn doesn't need to do that. This is the man who was once nominated for an oscar for best actor twice in the same year. He's not some talentless trash from The Hills.

Despite what a lot of you claim, I still believe it IS the photographers who make celebrities famous, not just their acting ability. There a thousands, if not millions, of 'struggling actors" out there who also possess great talent, yet haven't been "discovered" by…… dare I say it….. photographers! Movie promotions depend on… PUBLICITY…..! I agree that it is initially the talent that gets many of them where they are, but talen alone does NOT make them celebrities. It is the EXPOSURE they receive from photographers and other media.
