She's gonna kill v. maim someone!
While Canada is usually more progressive than America when it comes to social issues, they don't seem to be much better than us when nominating people for awards.
The nominees for the 2016 Juno Awards were revealed on Tuesday… and it's clear they must have forgotten that females can make music, too — but one person who definitely didn't forget is singer/musician/producer/artist Grimes.
The 27-year-old had her highest charting album of her career in 2015 with Art Angels, but she and most of her female peers were mysteriously overlooked by the music awards show, spawning the hashtag #JunosSoMale!
Naturally, Grimes took to Twitter to vent her frustrations in a series of now-deleted tweets, saying:
This song shows Allie's slower side, as opposed to her two earlier summer jams, but we love it just as much.
Plus, it's paired with a stellar music video where Allie proves that she's the only person in the world who can make grocery shopping eerily beautiful!
So Allie, the only question on our minds is when can we get a full album?!
Ch-ch-check it out (above)!
Yas to the House of X!
We are digging Allie X hard!
She's the new breed of pop star! The kind that is actually COOL!
She reminds us a lot of her sister in X - Charli XCX, as well as saucy Swede Tove Lo.
If you like those gals and the left-of-center pop movement then you will love Prime!
It's bright without being cheesy.
It's cool without trying too hard.
Check it out above!
We love us our left-of-center pop stars!
Allie X is giving us a heaping dose of COOL along with her pop!
Think Charli XCX or Ellie Goulding.
Or a less cynical and depressed Lorde!
Her debut single Catch feels very Euro - in the best way possible - even though she's from Toronto and now lives in Los Angeles.
Check out the synthlicious song above!
