barry manilow surgery

Aww, we're sad to hear that Barry Manilow has to go in for surgery Monday!

The singer will be entering an El Lay hospital to repair torn abductor muscles and the removal of bursas in both hips.

Then he'll be in recovery for SIX weeks! Bummer!!!

But thankfully, he'll be able to get back on the stage after he's all well and better. The Chicago Theater will have him Feb. 2-4 and Radio City Music Hall gets him February 10-14!

He's got a great attitude about it all though. He says:

Attn. Fanilows! Barry Is Releasing A New Album - With All New Music!!!

barry-manilow-new-album.jpg

He writes the songs that make the whole world sing and young girls cry and so on and so forth, so… get excited!!!

Barry Manilow just announced that on June 14th, he'll be releasing his first original album in 10 years. Titled 15 Minutes, the album has 15 brand new tracks that were written and recorded over the past two years with help from lyricist Enoch Anderson. Of the album, Barry reveals:

"Fame and success are something we all strive for, and yet when we get it how do we behave? That question jumps out at us daily from magazine covers, TV news and online gossip sites. In my world of entertainment, I've watched perfectly decent and talented people achieve the success they've been striving for only to crash and burn as their star rises. … It's something that continues to fascinate us, and for me it represented an interesting musical journey to explore."

Sounds fun! We're thrilled to hear what you have in store for us, Barry.

Oh, and for those Fanilows out there who think waiting until June is just too much to bear, fear not! Barry is scheduled to debut the album on a QVC Presents Q Sessions Live broadcast on May 26 at 8pm. Barry will sing a few a of the songs on the disc as well as present a special offer for the album only to QVC customers.

Because that is the way Manilow roooooolls!

Barbra Streisand, Madonna And Others Pay Tribute To Elizabeth Taylor

The passing of Elizabeth Taylor is being felt by everyone, especially in the Hollywood community. Several celebs, especially those who knew her best, have released statements to honor their friend and collegue.

One such star is Barbra Streisand, who this morning expressed her sadness over losing the legend and great humanitarian. Barbra wrote:

"It's the end of an era. It wasn't just her beauty or her stardom. It was her humanitarianism. She put a face on HIV/AIDS. She was funny. She was generous. She made her life count."

What a great sentiment…"She made her life count."

Other celebrities have shared their thoughts on the passing of Liz and what she meant to them. Here are some of their thoughts:

Madonna: "I am so sorry to hear that this great legend has passed. I admired and respected her not only as an actress but for her amazing and inspiring work as an AIDS activist. She was one of a kind."

Julie Andrews: "Liz was a dear friend. She was a great legendary lady of Hollywood and she will be mourned worldwide."

Shirley MacLaine: "I don't know what was more impressive – her magnitude as a star or her magnitude as a friend Her talent for friendship was unmatched. I will miss her for the rest of my life and beyond."

John Travolta: "Elizabeth was the definition of greatness on all fronts. I loved her. She will be incredibly missed."

Barry Manilow: "She was the last great movie star and one of my closest friends … What I'll always remember about Elizabeth was her laugh. She would walk in looking like a princess, and out of her mouth would come this cackling laugh that would crack all of us up."

Such lovely thoughts. We bet she felt the same of all of you, her caring , devoted friends.

Sorry Fanilows! Barry Postpones Australian Tour

barry-manilow-concert-in-australia.jpg

When Mother Nature decides to cut you a break though, he'll be back.

Barry Manilow regrettably had to announce the postponement of his planned tour of Australia in April due to the extreme weather conditions.

You guys are being hit pretty hard down there with the floods, fires, and least us not forget, Cyclone Yasi, so its kind of understandable. A statement on the star's website reads:

"Due to the current conditions in Australia, Barry's upcoming April tour in Australia has been postponed. All other concert dates, including the U.K. and a few more to be announced are not affected and are on schedule."

Though no new dates have been rescheduled, promoters have promised that "future plans are presently under discussion." Silver lining, we guess.

We continue to send our best to all those who are struggling during this difficult time in Australia and we hope the skies clear up for you soon.

ap060828767043419.jpg

This is long overdue!

The Daytime Emmy Awards will be honoring Dick Clark at this year's show, which will be filmed in Las Vegas for the first time ever.

Some of the celebs that are lined to pay their respects to the entertainer are Cher, Barry Manilow, Garth Brooks, Marie Osmond, Jay Leno, and Simon Cowell.

Executive producer David McKenzie spoke of this year's broadcast, saying:

"Since this is the first time the Daytime Emmys will be based outside New York or L.A., we're putting together a special that will tap into the energy and excitement of Las Vegas. This will be an entertainment driven awards presentation that viewers will embrace."

Good! We hope it won't be the usual snoozefest!

NBC Slams Conan Again!

ap090601033757co__opt11.jpg

And they were provoked by a pretty hilarious joke!

Conan O'Brien has explained several times recently about how he isn't allowed to badmouth NBC, but he said in his monologue on The Tonight Show last night:

"Nobody said anything about speaking in Spanish. NBC esta manejado por hijos de cabras imbeciles que comen dinero y evacuan problemas."

The Spanish translates to "NBC is run by brainless sons of goats who eat money and crap trouble."

LOLs!

O'Brien is expecting some pretty big guests as he goes out with a bang this coming Friday. Adam Sandler, Robin Williams and Barry Manilow are stopping by along with Will Ferrell, Conando's first guest when he started hosting The Tonight Show.

NBC has not been amused with his LOLgasmic antics and released the following statement to news outlets:

"It was Conan's decision to leave NBC that resulted in nearly 200 of his staffers being out of work. We have already agreed to pay millions of dollars to compensate every one of them. This latest posturing is nothing more than a PR ploy."

Whatever it is, we LOVE it! Team CoCo!
