Don Cheadle Declares He's Not A Taylor Swift 'Hater' After Throwing Shade At Her Grammys Win! But He Stands By His Comments!
Don Cheadle just experienced his first fandom backlash… and it's INTENSE.
For those who don't remember, Cheadle caused an uproar when he expressed disappointment over Taylor Swift winning album of the year over Kendrick Lamar. The actor also went on to say he almost "Kanyed" over the upset, referencing that infamous moment when Kanye West interrupted Taylor's best female video acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs.
Needless to say, Don's message was NOT received well. In fact, he's still defending himself against some pretty harsh words and it's already Wednesday!
Speaking to all the angered fans, D.C. commented:
Tweeps, I'm not a Taylor hater. I think Kendrick's album is stronger and more deserving. That's all. My opinion.

Some people are reacting as if I ACTUALLY jumped on stage. T. Swift is an adult, a megastar and utterly undiminished by my joke. Tranquilo

All fair points! Not to mention Don's dig (if you could call it that), was way less worse than Yeezy's!
Unfortunately, some fans of Tay took their anger to a whole other level with these tweets:
Don Cheadle Says He Almost Pulled A Kanye West On Taylor Swift When She Won Album Of The Year At The Grammys!
It almost became 2009 again at the 2016 Grammys!
With an astounding 11 nominations, Kendrick Lamar was the favorite to win Album Of The Year.
Spike Lee Still Won't Be Attending The Oscars Despite Proposed Changes — But Don Cheadle Is Looking Forward To Chris Rock 'Taking Everyone To Task'
The one-man boycott is still on for Spike Lee!
Of course, Lee had previously indicated he was going to skip the Academy Awards — and even now that the Academy has made massive changes to their membership in a bid to diversify, that's not enough for the famed filmmaker.
Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Lee said:
Tell it like it is, Danny DeVito!
The actor spoke to the Associated Press while he was at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday, and he got very candid about how much of a problem he thought it was for the Oscars to fail to nominate people of color for their awards this year.
DeVito, joined by fellow actors Don Cheadle and Sam Neill, can be seen (below) very openly talking about race in America, and where the Academy Awards got it wrong:
George Clooney Weighs In On The Oscars' Lack Of Diversity Controversy — Says 'We're Moving In The Wrong Direction'!
After the Oscars revealed all 20 of its actor nominees were white, everyone from Jada Pinkett Smith to David Oyelowo to even the President of The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences have voiced frustrations about the lack of diversity in the prestigious institution.
Now, George Clooney, the unofficial mayor of Hollywood, is adding his two cents — and he agrees that "we are moving in the wrong direction."
Speaking to Variety, the Oscar winner said he thinks the lack of minority nominees is largely due to the little options minority actors have playing roles in "quality" films!
And we thought WE were the most excited!
There are a ton of reasons to be excited about Captain America: Civil War — heck, it's basically Avengers 2.5 since it stars not only Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. but also Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, and newcomers Chadwick Boseman and Martin Freeman.
Oh yeah, and it introduces Tom Holland as a little known character that goes by the name Spider-Man!
We've been HIGHLY anticipating the wall crawler's return to the big screen — and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe no less — since the lackluster sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. While we won't get a full standalone movie from Sony until the summer of 2017, Cap 3 will introduce the newest version of the web slinger!
But now we have more reason to anticipate the film as the young star recently gushed to The Belfast Telegraph saying:
Robert Downey Jr. & Chris Evans Gift The World With The First Trailer For Captain America: Civil War! Watch The Fight Begin HERE!
The wait is over, Marvel fans!
And just as many guessed, it was indeed the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War!
In the first ever footage released, Captain America is forced to fight his fellow Avengers — including Iron Man — over the fate of his friend Bucky!
Ch-ch-check out the trailer (above) to get your first look at Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, and Jeremy Renner in the fight of the century — oh, and did we mention Black Panther??!
Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.
