Jason Segel Signs On For An Adventure

boys__opt1.jpg

Jason Segel has just signed on to star opposite Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman in The Adventurer's Handbook.

The flick will be directed by Akiva Schaffer for Universal.

As for the screenplay, it was penned by Hill, Matt Spicer and Max Winkler, yes, Henry's son, and deals with four childhood buddies who, bored from their bland adulthood, decide to go on a journey around the world inspired by the tales in Mick Conefrey's book, The Adventurer's Handbook: Life Lessons From History's Great Explorers.

Segel will play a washed up musician who wasted his youth, and ended up a back-up pianist and alcoholic.  Schwartzman will play a pain in the ass Grammy winner and Hill will play an engineer who no longer feels close to his family.

We already know Hill and Segel work well together, and we think Schwartzman would fit in nicely.

Universal hopes the flick will be in production early 2010.

We hope it doesn't suck.

Jason Schwartzman Is Making Music

al_7b857b74fc03424efaa117f4.jpg

Actors try to be musicians all the time. Most fail miserably. Hear that Joaquin Phoenix????

Jason Schwartzman, however, is one of those rare ones that actually manages to make good music.

We can't rave enough about his Coconut Records side project and Nighttiming CD.

Well, now, Jason's back with a new song, just as good, and he's giving it away for free!

Merry Xmas! Feliz Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa!

TV Time for a Coppola

Looks like a new Wes Anderson film isn't happening anytime soon!

Jason Schwartzman is set to star in an HBO comedy pilot called Bored to Death.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, he'll play a a struggling thirtysomething writer with a drinking problem in Brooklyn who, following a painful breakup with his girlfriend, decides to emulate his heroes from the novels of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. He takes out an ad pretending to be a private detective and starts taking cases — solving some and making others worse.

If the show was to get picked up by HBO for a series, would you watch?

HBO needs a hit!

Their former powerhouse Sunday nights are dead.

A Little Bit Of Coconut

Jason Schwartzman made one of our favorite albums of 2007, Coconut Records.

Unfortunately for music lovers all over the world he was very reticent about promoting the album…until now.

Check out his first-ever interview talking about his gem of a solo record (below).
