….as in he's a FABULOUSLY dressed TV host and not the host of a murderous reality show pitting children against each other!
We all know Johnny Weir is just plain fab, so we didn't really think much past him other than him just being the best dressed person in Russia for the next few weeks during the Sochi Winter Olympics!
Turns out, we should've known: there was a plan behind his outfits all along! He's gone Hunger Games chic!
If we're not gonna be winning much gold this year, we might as well be winning the fashion Olympics! And we think Caesar Flickerman would approve!
Speaking about his unique style, Johnny said:
It looks like Johnny Weir just found himself inserting his
foot ice skate in his mouth!
The now retired Olympian made his way to Columbia University to talk a little bit about the upcoming Olympics in Sochi. However, a LGBT group known as Queer Nation protested the event due to his strong belief that athletes should participate in the winter games despite Russia's anti-gay legislation!
Well Johnny was NOT happy about the picketers and at one point referred to them as "idiots" during the Q&A segment! The former ice skater realized that probably wasn't the best reaction and issued an apology, explaining:
Noooooo! The end has come!
Johnny Weir is OFFICIALLY retiring, but that's not the last we've seen of the 29-year-old figure skater!
He JUST announced his retirement on the TODAY show, and we're strangely fine with it…. because he then shared his plans to work with NBC at the 2014 Sochi Olympics!!
Russia's anti-gay laws be damned!!
Here's what he said:
We had a feeling that Johnny Weir wouldn't be competing in the Sochi Olympics, despite some hints as to a possible bid — but we thought if he DIDN'T go, it would be more because of Russia's archaic and offensive anti-gay laws!
Instead, the two-time Olympian did not register for the qualifiers for the national championships, as the deadline to register was Sept. 1.
Johnny hasn't competed since withdrawing from Rostelecom Cup last year, and we all know he finished sixth at the Vancouver Olympics. We bring this up because only those who placed in the top five at last year's nationals or who won medals at the most recent Olympics or world championships are eligible to skip the qualifiers to go to the next games… which means that Johnny is officially not on the team.
Johnny Weir and his hubby, Victor Voronov, have been happily married for almost two years now and things are going great.
Though there is apparently another man causing a rift between them!
Who could this mystery man be??
It's Tyoma! Johnny's Japanese Chin pup!
