Want to know what makes a scary tale more terrifying??

Learning that half the murderous villains are based off real people! Oh, we wish were kidding.

Take American Horror Story, for example. The Ryan Murphy-created horror anthology is riddled with characters that are based off real life bad guys. No, really!

Be sure to discover the IRL killers that inspired film/TV roles (below)… only if you dare…

VOTE: Next Week's American Horror Story: Cult Opens With A Mass Shooting — Should FX Postpone The Episode?

| Filed under: TV NewsPollsRyan MurphyViolenceAmerican Horror StoryEvan PetersControversy

Nothing is scarier than when life imitates art.

But in light of recent events, it might be too horrific to air next week's American Horror Story: Cult — because the episode opens with a mass shooting.

The beginning moments of the hour find a crowd of people under attack from a shooter at a political rally, which couldn't have come at a worse time following the real life massacre in Las Vegas on Sunday.

FX and 20th Century Fox have yet to comment about whether or not the episode — which comes at the center of a politically-charged season — would be postponed.

Related: Donald Trump Visits Las Vegas

This wouldn't be the first time Ryan Murphy's horror anthology has depicted a mass shooting. Evan Peters' character memorably committed a mass shooting at his high school in season 1, which played out in an excruciatingly gruesome manner.

Of course, that Murder House episode didn't air off the heels of a real life tragedy — though we still expect Season 7's shooting, which was filmed before production wrapped at the end of September, to be just as unsettling.

What do YOU think, Perezious readers? Is it too soon for FX to air the episode, or is there already so much violence on TV that it shouldn't really matter?

Sarah Paulson usually plays multiple characters in a single season of American Horror Story, so a simple late night acting challenge is a walk in the park for the actress!

On Tuesday's Tonight Show, the AHS: Cult star showed off her best voices playing Jimmy Fallon's Wheel of Impressions, proving she can handle comedy just as well as drama.

Video: Be Very Afraid Watching The AHS: Cult Trailer!

In the clip, Paulson channeled hilarious versions of Kathleen Turner, Holly Hunter, and Drew Barrymore — and the impressions were so spot on, we hope Ryan Murphy creates a biopic miniseries where she can play all three!

Politics, Paranoia, & Clowns! Let Your Fear Fester By Watching The Official American Horror Story: Cult Trailer!

We can blame Donald Trump for a lot of things — the heightened division of America, contentious relations with other world powers, and now… the rise of a clown-worshipping cult run by Evan Peters!

At least, that's what we took from the first full trailer for American Horror Story: Cult!

The clip finally dives deep into the latest season of Ryan Murphy's anthology series, with a closer look at Sarah Paulson (reprising her role as Paranoid Terrified Woman), Cheyenne Jackson (playing the resident seemingly-put-together-put-probably-crazy Therapist), and Billie Lourd (playing a spooky babysitter we'll call Lana Del Grey). Twisty the Clown makes a subtle cameo, too!

Video: Watch The Creepy AHS: Cult Opening Credits!

It all starts in Michigan on 2016's election night, when Trump's win triggers a crippling phobia for Ally Mayfair Richards (Paulson) — her fear of clowns.

Things don't get better when Paulson and her wife (newcomer Alison Pill) hire Winter Anderson (Lourd) to take care of their son — because Winter is secretly working with Kai Anderson (Peters), who is hellbent on using fear to get people to "set the world on fire."

Ch-ch-check out the trailer for AHS: Cult to see what political horrors await you!
