Snipes Snipped!

wenn52129862.jpg

Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison following his conviction last year on three misdemeanor tax charges.

The government doesn't eff around when it comes to collecting their money!

As part of the ongoing court case, Snipes had asked the judge to allow him to leave the country to travel to London and Bangkok for 'work'.

However, at no time was he ever allowed or granted permission to leave the US since being arrested last year. But it seems the 46-year-old did just that!

In a U.S. District Court filing this week, government attorneys told the court that Snipes had left the country in November, unauthorized, and spent some time in the United Arab Emirates.

The reason?

Apparently Snipes didn't want to miss the party of the year cuz he flew to Dubai for the opening of the $1.5 billion Atlantis, The Palm Hotel. As a result, Snipes has now been ordered to turn in his passport.

But, the best part is that no one even knew he left the country or would even have found out if it wasn't for the paparazzi. Turns out government officials spotted Snipes, dressed up in yellow from head to toe, in press photos during the hotel opening.

Idiot!

Looks like Wesley might not be leaving the country again anytime soon.

Approved!

Wesley Snipes must have some good lawyers working on his behalf!

A judge has granted Snipes' request for permission to travel to London and Bangkok for 'work'.

Interesting note — Snipes' lawyers are arguing that the judge in the case made several errors before and after his February conviction.

Is allowing Wes permission to go abroad an 'i'm sorry' from the judge?

The Feds will likely appeal this decision.

Hop on a plane now, Snipes!

Begging Won't Work

Is Wesley Snipes desperate for cash to pay the Feds?

Snipes' lawyers have asked the judge overseeing his tax case to let the actor leave the country for work.

The tax evader wants to work on two films, Gallowwalker and Chasing the Dragon in London and in Bangkok, Thailand.

Interesting.

There's a lot of jungle Wes can get 'lost' in around Bangkok.

Good luck getting that request through, Wes!

And, while you're abroad, hop on a few planes, a train and go into hiding.

He's A Wanted Man!

He better enjoy his last moments of freedom!

The U.S. Attorney's office has filed a motion demanding that Wesley Snipes surrender himself to police custody.

They disagree with a Florida judge's decision to let the actor out on bail while he appeals his tax charges.

Snipes was found guilty and sentenced to three years in jail for not paying his taxes for several years.

He still owes millions of dollars!

The judge felt Wesley was not a flight risk, but that doesn't seem to be good enough for the feds.

"We want him in custody," said Steve Cole, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office. "He's been convicted by a jury. He has been sentenced to three years and he should be in custody."

Now's the time to hop on a flight to somewhere tropical and far far away, Wesley!

The Feds Want More of Wesley's $$$

Paying the tax bill isn't enough!

According to a new report, Federal prosecutors also want Wesley Snipes to pay what it cost to convict him.

The gov's not effing around!

The Feds have reportedly sent a "cost of prosecution" bill to the judge in the case.

As we've mentioned previously, Snipes was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison but remains free while his case is on appeal.

His attorneys object to many of the prosecution fees the government is seeking.

Here's what appears on the 'bill':

$193,716.98 for scanning, printing and numbering documents

$21,052.19 for witnesses (prosecutors want to be reimbursed for the time and travel expenses of 13 witnesses)

$2,456.40 for transcripts (prosecutors say the daily trial transcripts were necessary for the government to be "on an equal footing" with the defense, which had ordered them).

$138.18 for making certified color copies of trial exhibits

Just pay up!
