While this is good for getting your celebration on early, it's not so good for those of us who have to come into work on Monday! Don't worry, though, we've got Dr. Yael Varnado here with tips to keep you feeling great — and make sure you don't call out from work because of your poor decisions! LOLz!

Just follow this plan:

BEFORE:

· Plan ahead: This means hydrating before heading out and being sure you are hitting the parades and parties on a full stomach!
· Know how you’re getting home before you leave the house – have a plan that is safe and secure that you won’t have to think about while out celebrating.

What you drink the night before is one of the most important factors in a hangover.

Mixing drinks and switching between hard liquors exposes you to different types of congeners.

Collect the whole set for an awful hangover! LOLz!

A good trick, other than sticking to one type of alcohol, is to stay away from

Nutrition Tips To Ease Your Holiday Hangover

Margaux J. Rathbun new pic

Ahh, the dreaded hangover. While most aren't as severe as the one that made Bradley Cooper a star, they all still pretty much suck.

Thanks to a slew of upcoming holiday parties, a FitPerez reader is anticipating the worst, but is hoping there are ways to ease the pain.

Not drinking too much is the obvious solution, although Margaux J. Rathbun has some other natural ideas that will answer this reader's question:

Margaux, during the holiday season I go to a lot of parties and drink wine, hard alcohol, and champagne. Tis the season, right? The problem is that I get wicked hangovers the next day. What can I do to make sure my hangovers aren't terrible? Any nutrition tips?

According to Margaux:

In case you have a little “too much” fun one of these nights, there are some ways you can relieve your hangover using nutrition. First of all, be sure that you are staying hydrated with plenty of water, before, during, and after your drinking. You can also try some herbal teas to help settle your stomach, such as ginger and chamomile tea.

Be sure to eat plenty of “hangover healing” foods rich in vitamins (especially B vitamins) and minerals. Apples, bananas, limes, lemons, leafy greens, and whole grains are good choices. Some herbs that can help your hangover include evening primrose oil, cumin, and slippery elm bark. While you are drinking, choose light colored drinks. Drinks that are dark in color tend to have more chemicals that form during fermentation, causing the blood vessels to dilate and produce awful headaches.

For more nutrition tips, be sure to visit Margaux at her website, follow her on twitter @MargauxRathbun and, as always, write us at Tips@FitPerez.com!

FINALLY! FDA Approves Hangover Pill!

Hangover Pill

The FDA has just approved a pill for hangovers!

It's called Blowfish, and it's over the counter, and you take it like alka-seltzer in the morning when you wake up. It's supposed to provide relief in 15 minutes, and the ingredients look awfully familiar:

1,000 milligrams of aspirin, 120 milligrams of caffeine, and a stomach-calming element.

The bummer is that you'll have to wait until AFTER New Year's Eve to get it, so you'll still have to deal with that last hangover. It's three bucks a dose, too.

Our only concern is that people think that alka-seltzer is a pill — if it's dissolving in water and not swallowed whole, how is it a pill?

Either way, hooray for science!
