The era of the Soap Opera may soon be over!

Iconic tv shows One Life to Live and All My Children moved from network television to online-only viewing earlier this year in an attempt to combat cancellation…

But it seems the plan is not working out too well, as both shows' parent company Prospect Park is cutting down new episodes aired posted per week from 4 to 2!

Could this mean the death of both beloved Soap Operas is right around the corner? Well, perhaps not!

The reasoning behind the episode elimination is actually quite clever, as Prospect Park heads Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz revealed in a statement:

Earlier this year, Glee creator Ryan Murphy teased some "weird shit" that was going to go down at the end of season 4 that would set up a whole new structure for the fifth season even though we only just got used to the back and forth between Lima, OH and NYC (umm SPOILER ALERT Unique CATFISHING Ryder was definitely an odd twist, not to mention Brittany going to MIT!!)…

So what could this new format be?! Could ALL characters be moving to the Big Apple?! How would that even work??

Ryan Murphy — the mastermind behind some of our FAVE shows on television AKA Glee, The New Normal, American Horror Story — has found a home for his provocative, sex-centric series Open on HBO!

Open focuses on five characters and their various sexual relationships.

Ryan recently shared:

"[Open is] an adult show that is very frank in its depiction of sex."

So… it's going to be similar to Girls?! LOLzz.

But in all seriousness, as much as we are THRILLED that Ryan is putting his many talents towards a new project, what about his other tv-babies?!
