Kristen Doute had a terrifying health scare recently after she revealed her pregnancy.
The Valley star has been celebrating her upcoming little one alongside her fiancé Luke Broderick lately. After revealing she and her partner are expecting a girl last week, she went on her podcast to share some less exciting news. While speaking on Balancing Act‘s Friday episode, she opened up about experiencing a “threatened miscarriage”:
“Something not so fun that happened to us over the weekend. We’ll be brief about this, but I feel like it’s important to talk about because if other women experience it…other women that I honestly read about online and a few friends are what got me through this.”
The momma-to-be went on to detail she started “bleeding” for seemingly no reason:
“I started bleeding really heavily, and it was out of nowhere. We were just on the couch, I wasn’t doing anything crazy. And I just panicked.”
Scary! It’s completely understandable why she panicked…

The 41-year-old explained she and Luke were advised by her doctor to go to the ER — and they went to THREE different locations trying to figure out what was going on! She said:
“I’m still bleeding, and that’s the scary part. I don’t know what this means, because I’m in full panic mode, like ‘How much have I actually lost? How much blood am I going to keep losing? Is this going to keep happening? Is it not going to stop ever?’ There’s crazy thoughts that go through your head.”
Luckily, Kristen was able to get to a medical professional and “everything worked out” — but they “still don’t totally know what happened”:
“What we think happened is that there was a shift in my placenta. The blood was all mine; the blood was not the baby’s.”
And as far as the baby? An ultrasound confirmed their little one was doing alright:
“We saw her on the ultrasound, we saw… I’m gonna get emotional. We saw her heartbeat. We got to listen to her heartbeat, the tech was so fantastic at making us feel good and making us feel calm in that way. She was moving in there—moving and shaking—like nothing was wrong.”
Whew!
Thank goodness! The Bravo star said that was “enough” reassurance for her, as her baby is her main priority:
“I don’t care if I’m bleeding; I don’t care what’s happening down there as long as she’s safe. The scary part then was once we go home, obviously, we just have to deal with this. Tomorrow is Saturday, the next say is Sunday, and we can’t go to the doctor. We just gotta hope and pray that that ultrasound was like, ‘Hey, she’s fine and she’s gonna be fine.'”
After leaving the ER, she said she looked through her paperwork and saw that the medical team referred to her issue as a “threatened miscarriage”:
“[That’s] the last thing you want to read, especially after you saw an ultrasound and the baby is totally fine.”
All in all, Kristen called the experience a “huge scare” and said she’d “never prayed” that much in her life. She even leaned on her The Valley co-stars Nia Sanchez and Danny Booko while she was going through it:
“I believe wholeheartedly that God and Luke got me through that. I called Nia and Danny — or texted them from the car — I didn’t even tell you this at the time. Right when we got in the car I texted Nia, ‘Can you guys please pray for us?'”
Such a terrifying situation! We’re so glad to hear Kristen and the baby are doing okay now. We’re sending love and healing their way.
