Prince Harry and Prince William are nowhere near ready to reunite this month! Their feud is sadly still going strong!
As you know, the Duke of Sussex is heading to the UK in July. Harry originally planned to bring Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for the first time since 2022, but that’s now up in the air. If the trio doesn’t come, however, it’s not from lack of trying on King Charles III‘s part to make them feel as comfortable as possible! He’s actually gone above and beyond for the Sussex family, including offering them a stay at a royal residence and covering their security arrangements during their visit.

And Charles is doing all this for time with the grandkids. Not to mention, it’s a step in the right direction of repairing the fractured relationship between him and Harry. A source told Us Weekly on Wednesday:
“He’s made it clear their comfort and security is a priority. Everyone’s buzzing with excitement, saying this might be the first step in mending the relationship at large.”
Good luck getting Prince William on board with mending the fences, though! His loyalty remains to the crown no matter what, and he feels his younger brother went against it! Royal expert Emily Nash explained:
“This is a family for whom, for many years, duties come first, and I think that it’s a very difficult balance, because there are human beings involved and at the end of the day, siblings involved. You don’t want to turn your back on them completely, but at the same time, you have to protect the institution.”
The brothers remain not in contact as a result. The source said:
“There’s no direct communication, no texts, no calls, no emails, nothing.”
Not even their shared history can bring them together, sadly. As the insider said, “there are only two people alive who know what their childhood was like,” along with the pain of losing their mom, and that’s them. Even with the concern over King Charles’ health following his cancer diagnosis two years ago, there’s been “no movement” toward a reconciliation:
“Harry is not Andrew, and he never will be, but William isn’t ready [to make up].”
And it’s all because William can’t forgive Harry for going against The Firm and bashing the royal family in his memoir Spare, Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, and a 2021 interview with Meghan. The source pointed out all “[that] created a public, permanent record,” and it doesn’t fly with William. Author Christopher Andersen added:
“The fly in the ointment has always been William’s ongoing beef with his brother over the Sussexes’ notorious [TV] interview, and the broadsides Harry delivered to the royal family in his memoir.”
Harry has his own issues with his big bro, too. He previously accused William and Princess Catherine‘s press offices of leaking negative stories about him and Meghan to the British media to influence public opinion. So, a second source told Us Weekly the Archewell co-founder struggles to trust William and worries about “stories being planted in the UK press that are anti-Meghan and Harry and pro-Charles and William.” Unfortunately, they noted “that concern is not something that will go away” no matter what is said or done.
Despite their problems with each other, Harry does miss William. The first source expressed that both brothers are upset over their falling out to this day:
“Harry misses William more than he misses ‘the institution.’ He misses having someone who doesn’t need anything explained. William’s desire [to see Harry] exists at a level he hasn’t given himself permission to act on yet.”
So the question now is: Will William and Harry see each other this visit? Andersen feels it is unlikely but:
“Is there a sliver of hope? Yes.”
That said, it is likely “the Waleses and the Sussexes will assiduously avoid each other.” Nash agrees, saying there are “no plans” for Harry and William to interact:
“There’s no communication there at present. It’s very sad for all involved, but they’re both very busy getting on with their lives, and I think Harry does have a bit more of a relationship with his father, so perhaps he will focus his efforts there for now.”
And don’t expect Catherine and Meghan to try to change their husbands’ minds. The first source shared:
“They are waiting for William and Harry to decide what’s going to happen. Kate would love her children to have a relationship with their cousins, and she is interested in seeing the kids as well. But she will respect William’s decision.”
The insider believes that William and Harry “will patch things up in the future.” Not in the near future, though. They won’t even reconnect to honor the 29th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death in August and will grieve “separately” instead.
Through all of this, King Charles is sadly stuck in the middle. Andersen revealed that “he’s felt as if he were caught in the crossfire.” However, Nash thinks that “if he had to pick a side, he sympathizes [more] with William,” especially because his and Catherine’s cancer battles have brought them closer together.
As for Harry and Charles? He hopes to see his dad again. The last time they saw each other was in 2025 for roughly an hour. But Harry shouldn’t expect much! Even though the monarch is handling the security issue, Andersen thinks he won’t give the Sussexes too much time again:
“Even if they iron out all the details, there’s no guarantee the king will set aside more than a few minutes to meet Harry and his family.”
The first source noted, however, that they are “trying to align everyone’s schedules,” because “the king wants to spend time with Archie and Lilibet.” The insider added:
“They are seeing if they can have a couple of shared meals together and some casual family time.”
If they can get through that, there’s hope for a full-on reconciliation! Right? Fortunately, just because William can’t stand Harry right now, he won’t get in the way of Charles reconnecting with his brother:
“He would not stand in the way of that. There are mixed emotions about him seeing Harry given their history, but William’s feelings about Harry and his father’s happiness are two separate matters, so he won’t get involved.”
That bad part, though? Andersen isn’t too optimistic about the royals becoming one big happy family again. He is adamant that without William “signing off on a full-blown reconciliation, Charles will probably just be going through the motions — if he sees Harry at all.”
We’ll see what happens once Harry is across the pond! But hopefully, he’ll at least get some time with Charles! Even if it’s for a few minutes again! Thoughts, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments (below)!
