She’s certainly carving out a nice piece of the primetime pie for herself!
In addition to her already wildly successful late-night show Chelsea Lately and working on a new half-hour sitcom for the E! network called After Lately, Chelsea Handler just landed a sweet deal at NBC to turn her successful books into primetime comedy show!
The pilot is being titled after Chelsea’s first book, Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea, and is being described as a multi-camera sitcom based on Chelsea’s life – sort of. Sources explain that the main character will be called Chelsea and that she will carry out a lot of the same characteristics of the real gal, but it won’t be as autobiographical as the books.
Also, Chelsea won’t be starring, which begs the question of where they are going to find someone to capture the true sarcastic, raunchy Jersey girl essence of Handler!
Better get crackin’ on casting!
This could be good. Certainly some potential.
