Last month Anna Wintour voiced her concerns at a community board meeting about the new restaurant Miss Lily that’s going in next door to her multi-million dollar West Village condo.
But since then, many are coming out to support the Jamaican restaurant and attacking Anna’s crusade against it.
The restaurant’s owner Serge Becker said “Anna is the protector of community? It├óΓé¼Γäós just the funniest thing I├óΓé¼Γäóve ever heard”. Nightlife chronicler Michael Musto also chimed in saying Becker’s establishments “are not really Anna Wintour-type places”.
But the man with the biggest cojones went as far to say Wintour is a hypocrite.
New York Nightlife Association President Paul Seres explains “Her magazine hosts parties in venues across the city that I├óΓé¼Γäóm sure have had issues with neighbors├óΓé¼Γäó quality of life.”
We think there’s a BIG difference between throwing a party one night and a so-called “restaurant” that’s open until 2am. And the State Liquor Authority seems to agree!
On June 24th the booze association unanimously voted to deny Miss Lily an expanded liquor license.
