Orange Is the New Black's Crazy Eyes Was A Figure Skater - FOR 10 YEARS!

You’re telling us that the badass lady who plays Crazy Eyes on Orange Is The New Black (Uzo Aduba, complete with floor-peeing!) was a figure skater??
FOR TEN YEARS??
We don’t know why we find this so shocking — it just seems like the opposite of the character she plays, and something completely removed from acting!
We LOVE the idea though!
She talked a bit about her skating past recently, saying:

“I figure skated for like 10 years when I was a kid. I used that special skill when I auditioned before the pageant. It was really me figure skating. People have asked…’Is that a stunt double doing those axels and jumps?’ I was like, ‘No, that was me.'”

She’s talking about the Christmas pageant from the show, if you didn’t know!
Sadly, she doesn’t wear those amazing outfits anymore that come with the figure skating life:

“They have been burned or locked away. If they haven’t, I will find the people who have them.”

Ha!
During the Q&A at the Savannah College Art and Design’s aTVfest, Uzo’s costars chimed in with what they’d want to do if they had a chance to go to Sochi, since it seems like Uzo’s path was already decided.
Samira Wiley, who plays Poussey, said:

“The luge. You have like four different people for bobsledding, but the luge is just you. I want it be just me. I don’t want anybody else. I’m gonna win the race.”

Danielle Brooks, who plays Taystee, hilariously chose bobsledding even though her cast mate just said she’d have no part of it:
