Fall is officially less than a month away!
Which means it’s time for pumpkin flavored everything: Pumpkin beer! Pumpkin bread! Pumpkin flavored condoms!
That’s gotta be a thing, right?
And of course autumn also means the smooth, sweet taste of a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice latte is back! But hold on, Perezcious pumpkinphiles. Because you might not want to sip this seasonal treat once we tell you what it’s made of!
Here’s the first bit of bad news: pumpkin is NOT on the ingredients list at all!
Um… exsqueeze us?!?
Pumpkin is the first word in the name of the beverage! That├óΓé¼Γäód be like serving apple pie and not putting any friggin’ apples in!
It gets worse though…
Starbucks also includes Caramel Color Level IV in their Pumpkin Spice lattes, which is a made with ammonia and is considered a dangerous carcinogen.
We’ll let that sink in with you for a second.
It gets worse though…
The national chain also uses Monsanto milk which feeds genetically modified corn, soy and cottonseed to their cows.
It gets worse though…
Order up a Grande and you├óΓé¼Γäóll be ordering over 50 grams of sugar! And not even good sugar – Pumpkin Spice lattes are made with corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup. And lots of it!
Starbucks isn’t so quick to offer up the ingredients list for their products but one savvy food blogger dug deep and uncovered all this nastiness. Just some food for thought for the next time you’re in line for a coffee this fall!
Drink with caution, people!
